This appendix looks to vowels from the back of the mouth to the front. A known way to remember irregular verbs is to read a few time and again, and think about their vowels.
American English has regional varieties too, and we mark them as R, regional.
We do not predict on language use; we note as A, “aged”, on word shapes that might be marked as archaic or obsolete elsewhere.
